A Study on the Accelerated Blood Clotting Time by Amniotic Fluid and Fetal Maturity

Abstract
This study was attempted to evaluate the relationship between fetal maturity and accelerated clotting time by amniotic fluid.
The author observed the accelerated clotting time obtained by adding 1.5 ml of pregnant woman¢¥s blood to 1.0 ml of amniotic fluid of 18 to 45 weeks gestation and compared with control group used.
The results are as follows:
1. Amniotic fluid had the capacity of accelerating the blood clotting time (P2. Clotting time was accelerated proportionately with the gestational age and its correlation was
y=209.5-3.7x.
(y=clotting time(sec), x=gestational weeks)
Relation coefficient(r)was 0. 8.
3. Amniotic fluid from intrauterine fetal death cases showed much more accelerated clotting time.
4. There was no relationship between fetal respiratory distress and accelerated clotting time. 5. There was no distinct relationship between fetal body weight and accelerated clotting time.
